The demand to miniaturize and increase efficiency of transformers and reactors
has been rising. However, to meet this demand, many complex phenomena need
to be solved. For example, adopting a higher frequency as the reduced size
causes the losses to increase due to the skin effects. The reduction in
size also decreases the amount of space for insulation producing more heat.
Using electromagnetic CAE allows engineers to obtain vital measurements
while investigate the cause of losses visually. The geometry can also be
parameterized to quickly calculate the characteristics of a transformer,
reducing the number of necessary prototypes.
