In order to develop the motor control efficiently, the HILS is very effective. For the motor used in Hybrid vehicle, the precise motor and inverter models must be calculated very fast. dSPACE provides the customizable library for Simulink (ASM EC lib) and for FPGA (XSG EC Lib). The precise motor model can be imported from JMAG-RT.

Motor-drive systems play an increasingly important role in today's "more electric" society. The ability to rapidly develop and test control strategies coupled with ideal motor behavior is only the starting point. The real value of simulation to the motor-drive process is being able to accurately model and simulate the physical phenomena of interest that affect key aspects of the final product: controllability, stability, efficiency, and robustness. In this presentation we will explore a sample motor drive system described in Synopsys' SaberRD tool coupled with JMAG-RT. We will explore the design space and understand the interplay of motor and electrical dynamics from ideal control system to a detailed electrical level highlighting the system dynamics revealed through increasingly more physical modeling of the motor-drive.

Electric motors are key to all alternative electric propulsion solutions, from hybrids to fuel cell and battery EV. Research and development efforts in this area are driven by demands for performance in terms of power, efficiency, comfort and reliability

For many classes of EM problems, solving "only" the EM portion of the problem is not sufficient for the most accurate solutions-often additional physics must also be considered in order to be truly predictive. In particular, a number of interesting engineering problems may required structural computations that are beyond the capability of JMAG to solve on its own. This talk discusses recent advances that allow users to couple the field physics of both JMAG and Abaqus, and discusses various engineering problems which can be solved through this collaboration. A user example of a cell phone speaker is demonstrated, with a focus on three-field coupling between electro-magnetic (Lorenz) forces calculated with JMAG and the structural and acoustic regimes calculated within Abaqus.
