Introduction
The Nakamura Laboratory at Tohoku University is working on their objective to “generate, transport, convert, and develop technology for the use of next generation energy in an environment where human society and natural ecosystems coexist in harmony.” Their research involves comparing simulations and actual measurements to achieve smaller sizes, higher power and better efficiency in electric equipment such as motors, power generators and transformers. They are particularly focused on gears that transmit power and are making efforts to improve the performance of magnetic gears. They also promote development of technology for application to electric vehicles as well as research on power generation systems including generators and other equipment. JMAG acknowledges their philosophy and provides software for use in their research activities.
