Cooling Performance Evaluation for Motor Magnetic Design
[L-HT-184] Cooling Performance Evaluation for Motor Magnetic Design
Industrial motors, especially those with high power density, must take the cooling performance into account even for the magnetic performance with cooling. To improve the magnetic performance of a motor, it is necessary to evaluate the temperature rise due to heat generation, along with the cooling performance.
If magnetic design is performed without considering the cooling effect, the expected performance may not be achieved and rework may occur. At operating points where the highest coil losses, the source of heat generation, are large, it is essential to check that the coil temperature does not exceed the maximum allowable temperature as a result of the evaluation in integration with the cooling system.
