The magnetic properties of the magnet, including coercive force and magnetizing direction, used in the analysis of stepping motors are often estimated from actual measurements. However, these measurements are not always available and do not give precise characteristics of the magnet. This paper describes the use of a magnetization analysis to obtain the precise magnetic properties of the magnet. The paper will describe how the magnetization analysis was performed without the need for actual measurements. The effect on the performance of the motor due to the deterioration of the B-H curve of the claw poles was also investigated.
