In a motor drive system, the motor is one of the components, and it is only when the inverter and control system are in place that performance can be achieved. Therefore, it is necessary not only to evaluate the performance of the motor as a component, it also to verify that the motor behaves as expected in the system. Especially in control verification, it is important to verify abnormal use cases.
JMAG can generate highly accurate plant models (hereafter referred to as JMAG-RT) that take into account the magnetic saturation and spatial harmonics. In this case study, the detection of current anomalies was verified by simulating an open winding fault. As a result, it was found that a highly accurate plant model is necessary to properly verify the control.
