Abstract

Opening operation of electromagnetic relays generates very high-temperature arc plasma. Though periodic zero current of AC can interrupt arc plasma, we need compulsive increase of electric resistance to interrupt DC arc. As an approach to interrupt DC arc, magnetic blow-out, that electromagnetic force acting on DC arc sharply raises the arc length and resistance, is commonly used.
In this speech, I’m going to introduce arc interruption simulation technology based on magnetohydrodynamic model by JMAG and ANSYS Fluent, examples that I have simulated arc interruption experiment, and improvement result of calculatiton processing time.
