Following last year, we will exhibit at Automotive Engineering Exposition 2019 Nagoya.
As with the Yokohama event held in May, the JMAG booth will focus on model-based design and development of drive motors such as electric vehicles, and will present demonstration of Ver. 18.1 planned for release in June, topics on analysis technologies and the latest JMAG information based on a large number of our documents.
We look forward to the participation of everyone on the day of the event.
Main Exhibit
That which is required of a motor, the key component in motorization, is not only high performance but also a high level of integration within the system.
Model-based development using simulation is becoming indispensable for motor development as well.
JMAG, with a high track record in motor design, proposes a new workflow for model-based development.
In addition, related to this, we will present analysis technology and examples culled from many documents.
Model-Based Development
For electric vehicles the efficiency of the drive motor is directly linked to the fuel consumption of the vehicle. Therefore it is important to evaluate efficiency maps using high-accuracy motor models and control models.
A workflow is proposed for automatically and rapidly generating and verifying detailed efficiency maps for 3D motor models using JMAG electromagnetic field analysis software.
Optimization
An example of rotor geometry design using topology optimization will be presented. The objective functions used were for torque (maximized) and torque ripple (minimized), from which multi-objective optimization was performed. By parameterizing the materials in the design space using the ON/OFF method, it is possible to find complex goemetries that cannot be found by conventional parameter optimization.
Loss
In order to realize miniaturization and energy savings in devices, the demand for high efficiency and miniaturization of motors is increasing.
In order to meet this demand, the need for loss analysis is increasing and JMAG is continually developing technology to evaluate various losses including iron loss, harmonic loss from a PWM carrier, magnet eddy current loss, AC copper loss, stray load loss, excess eddy current loss, etc.
We will present a wealth of documents concerning loss analysis technology which is still evolving.
Motor Design
JMAG has absolute confidence in its analysis of motors.
Even though the motor is a mature device with a 100-year history, fierce technological competition is in progress to improve performance even today, for which FEA is an indispensable design technology.
JMAG has a parameter-based motor design support tool, JMAG-Express, that allows you to test a designer’s ideas immediately. Global design search is possible among various motor types and parameters.
Large-scale model computation
The time allowed for the design of automobiles and electrical devices is getting shorter every year. Analysis software is often used as one way to reduce design time.
Speed is directly linked to accuracy and reliability. High-speed processing for large-scale computations is essential for detailed understanding of phenomena inside devices and for searching a design space.
JMAG continues to work on attaining higher speeds by developing and tuning algorithms.
In order to reduce analysis times, we have enhanced HPC solutions and provide MPP solvers and GPU solvers.
Multiphysics
In recent years the need for multiphysics has increased. JMAG has implemented a magnetic field – thermal coupled analysis function for induction heating device design, and a magnetic field – NVH for electromagnetic noise countermeasures, and has started providing them to users.
In addition, in order to meet a wider range of needs, we have partnered with CAE partners in various analysis fields to build and maintain an easy-to-use environment.
There are many examples from which to check.
Analysis Methods
In electrical device design, analysis software is used to create the best product in the design period allowed.
With high performance being demanded and accurate analysis being required these days, reducing processing times is a strong wish among software users.
JMAG achieves time savings by using various analysis methods. Please search for useful analysis methods for your needs.
