New Application Catalog: Analysis of an Induction Generator
[JAC253] Analysis of an Induction Generator
In an induction generator, the rotating magnetic field of the stator winding causes an induced current to flow through the secondary conductor, and the rotor is driven by the force in the direction of rotation by the current and the rotating magnetic field. An induction generator has two operating modes depending on the slip. When the slip is positive it acts as an induction motor and when it is negative it acts as an induction generator.
The finite element method is effective in accurately calculating the output power and efficiency of the induction generator. A finite element method accounting for slip and speed allows for detailed analysis and evaluation at various operating points. This makes it easier to find the operating points according to design purposes such as maximum output power and maximum efficiency.
In this example, the relationship between the output power and efficiency of the induction generator is shown here.
