Overview
There is growing demand for higher efficiency in the design of electrical equipment. In order to evaluate efficiency during simulation, loss must be determined with high accuracy. Loss can be divided into copper loss, iron loss, stray loss, or mechanical loss depending on the location. How iron loss is generated is particularly complicated making it necessary to select an appropriate calculation method. JMAG supports multiple calculation methods, each appropriate to a given iron loss calculation timing, algorithm used, and excess eddy current loss (Table a-1).
In this document, describes an analysis procedure for calculating iron loss using iron loss characteristics data.
