Overview

Modern electric machine design has been experimenting with topology optimizations with the hope of discovering innovative geometry. Designers expect optimizations able to identify not only the ideal magnet arrangement but also the orientation direction could reveal better design solutions.
JMAG can run topology optimizations that utilize the orientation direction of magnets in each position as design variables.
This tutorial sets up a model with magnets that have a periodic orientation direction and runs a topology optimization using the orientation directions of the magnets as design variables.
