Q1 Will I be able to continue using JMAG-Express for free after July 30, 2009?
Yes, simply apply to have your license extended. We will include information about how to apply for an extended license in middle of July.

Q2 Can JMAG-Express be used by individuals?
Yes, JMAG-Express can be used by individuals and students that do not belong to a company.

Q3 What is the calculation method that JMAG-Express uses?
JMAG-Express uses the finite element method, not the magnetic circuit method, although we cannot provide more details regarding the calculation method.

Q4 Will additional templates be added to JMAG-Express?
If there is a specific type of geometry that you would like to see added as a template to JMAG-Express, please contact us using our contact form.

Q5 Can I specify materials other than those that are provided?
Presently, only the materials that are provided can be specified. We are considering adding more versatile material settings.

Q6 Can I use the JMAG material database?
Not presently. We are considering adding the ability to use the JMAG material database.

Q7 What does [Drive Voltage] stand for in the [Circuit] settings?
[Drive Voltage] stands for the maximum voltage between the wires. This corresponds to a power supply voltage for a 120-degree current.

Q8 What is the resistance specified for in [Coil Resistance] in the [Circuit] settings.
The resistance is set for the phase resistance. For more information, see the Help that is included with JMAG-Express for Rotating Machines.

Q9 Why can't I export the report results?
Presently, the reports can only be viewed. We are considering adding the ability to edit and export these reports.

Q10 How do I specify the license key information?
You will be sent a three line registration key by email to the email address you provide when you register. Specify the three line registration key when installing JMAG-Express.

License

The license key differs according to the type of motor to evaluate.
You need to apply for separate licenses to use induction motors, brushless motors, and generate JMAG-RT models.

Furthermore, the screen indicated above is displayed if JMAG-Express for Rotating Machines is started when the license key you are using has expired.

Q11 Linking JMAG-Express and JMAG-Designer
A feature to link JMAG-Express with JMAG-Designer is built into JMAG-Express Professional.
Please consider purchasing a JMAG-Express Professional license if you would like to perform more comprehensive analysis in JMAG-Designer using motor models created in JMAG-Express.
