Abstract
A high speed circuit breaker has been developed. This breaker has the opening time of 1msec and the break time less than 1cycle(20msec). The driving part of the breaker is composed of electromagnetic repulsion mechanisms and disk springs which have nonlinear coefficient of spring. Therefore, an analysis of the transient electromagnetic coupling with motion is necessary for developments of the high speed circuit breaker. Here we try to give efficiency to the repulsion mechanisms by applying nonlinear materials. The characteristics of contact travel in driving parts by the electromagnetic repulsion have been analyzed by using a method of transient electromagnetic coupling with motion in JMAG-WORKS. We report the effectiveness of the analysis of the transient electromagnetic coupling with motion for high speed circuit breakers.
