Abstract
It is well known that running a direct current through a transformer has adverse effects such as putting its core in a DC-bias magnetization state, overheating the transformer structure and increasing noise and loss. Equipment and cost reasons render experiments and verification on DC-bias magnetization using actual large transformers prohibitive. Consequently, it becomes extremely valid to examine DC-bias magnetism phenomena in simulations. In this lecture, we report on generated loss after using JMAG to conduct a magnetic field analysis on a large transformer structure in DC-bias magnetization state.
