Abstract

The current mainstream motors are radial motors using laminated steel sheets.
Recently, the demand for smaller size (thinner) and higher output are increasing in automotive applications. Then, axial gap motors that can compatible with them have attracted attention.
We have fabricated axial gap motor using soft magnetic powder cores which have a high degree of forming freedom. The motor shows both high torque and higher efficiency, compared with conventional radial motor of the same size.
In the presentation, we will report the result in detail. In addition, we will also introduce the influence on the performance of core shape detail considering powder compacting.
