RecurDyn is an interdisciplinary, (computer-aided engineering) CAE software package whose primary function is the simulation of Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD).

RecurDyn simulates both rigid and flexible body dynamics by combining traditional rigid MBD with cutting-edge finite element technology for modeling flexible bodies. (MFBD: Multi Flexible Body Dynamics)

RecurDyn employs world-leading technologies in both its solver to provide superior calculation speed and robust performance and in its GUI to provide an extremely powerful yet intuitive, easy-to-use environment for full pre- and post-processing. The GUI includes extensive customization tools to allow users to simplify and automate RecurDyn, and couple RecurDyn with their own workflow methods.

In addition, RecurDyn also includes a tightly-integrated controller design tool , design optimization , particle dynamics for granular materials , and durability and fatigue analysis . RecurDyn also supports co-simulation with various other CAE software tools.

RecurDyn/CoLink

RecurDyn/CoLink is a powerful, flexible, and efficient controls design and simulation tool. Control systems are designed graphically using block modeling usually for hydraulics simulation or mechatronics simulation. RecurDyn can be coupled with CoLink, using RecurDyn as a plant model for the control system. CoLink has a large library of electronic controller components. It has a very simple and intuitive user interface to enable very rapid development of sophisticated control systems. CoLink is highly extensible. Control blocks can be customized using the C programming language.

CoLink, a control system simulator integrated into RecurDyn, allows the user to model complicated control systems, electrical systems and hydraulic systems. It also provides a platform for the mechatronics simulation of the mechatronics system, an integrated analysis of firmware design, electronics design and mechanical system design by coupling RecurDyn.

The JMAG-RT (*.RTT file) model is a 1D model of a motor’s characteristics obtained from the JMAG simulation software for electrical device design and development. This allows models containing 3-phase PMSM motors represented in JMAG-RT to be modeled in CoLink and enables the confirmation of control algorithms for such models, as well as the simulation of RecurDyn models that include the motor.
