[L-SE-231] Faster Eddy Current Analyses

Overview

Coupled analyses with electric circuits that use bulk conductors are essential to account for the AC losses affecting rotating machines, induction heating, and wireless power supplies. JMAG associates FEM conductors with these bulk conductors. A three-dimensional model that has FEM conductors sometimes causes poor convergence in linear systems, which causes analyses to take quite a bit of time.
However, JMAG-Designer 25.1 improves convergence in these linear systems. Fig. 1 illustrates the enhanced convergence capabilities using a three-dimensional spiral model.
JMAG-Designer 25.2 further builds on this enhancement through faster massively parallel processing (MPP). Fig. 2 presents an evaluation of the AC losses produced in a coil of a rotating machine.
These innovations make an analysis that once took over a month possible in just four days.

JMAG-Designer 25.1 clearly improves the iterative convergence of the spiral inductor model.
The analysis model has 1,230,000 elements. The power supply frequency is 30 kHz.
An analysis that is typically unable to reduce the residual using the conventional method now converges in only a few iterations. In particular, frequency and transient response analyses show especially high convergence.
