Abstract

A loss calculation method for rotating machines considering stator and rotor slot harmonics and rotating magnetic field is introduced. The method is applied to induction motors, surface and interior permanent magnet motors to examine the validity from the comparison of experimental and calculated results. The differences of loss distributions of each motor are also investigated. It can be said that the method can be applied to various types of rotating machines.
