Influence of Magnetic Force Distribution on Cogging Torque of Permanent Magnet Motor

Abstract

In fluence of magnetic force distribution in the axial direction on cogging torque was simulated by using a 6p-9s permanent magnet motor model.
In the case of 6p-9s motors, the cogging torque varies with the period of the rotating machine angle of 20 degree. And magnetizing pattern with 20 degree skew is frequently applied in order to minimize the cogging torque. However,.the expected results are not always obtained due to magnetic inhomogeneity, etc.
Dependence of optimum skew angle for cogging torque on magnetic force distribution is reported.
