Electromagnetic Field Analysis of the High-Speed Electric Motor Using the JMAG-GPU Solver

Abstract

Recently, the trend of electrification in aircraft so-called MEA(More Electric Aircraft) or AEA(All Electric Aircraft) is gaining its momentum. Shimadzu is now developing the motor driven compressor for these Electric-ECS (Environmental Control System). Because the rotational speed of the centrifugal compressor driven by PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) in the ECS is very high, it is important to get clear understanding of the magnetic characteristics of the rotating PMSM. In this paper we analyzed the magnetic field of the highly rotating motor using JMAG, and show the results of this analysis. We also exhibit the results of JMAG-GPU solver and its effectiveness for high performance computing in this field.
