Abstract

This lecture describes the actuality of the heat treatment simulation technology relevant to the heat treatment process of the steel parts often performed in fields, such as a car and a machine tool. Especially, complicated coupling of many physical phenomena in heat treatment procee will be explained. For example, during induction heating and quenching, coupling of the electromagnetic field under induction heating, temperature, phase transformation and stress/strain is often considered. In order to solve complicated coupling, the basic theory of simulation technology, the analysis method and cases of the operation are described. Finally, the future of heat treatment simulation technology is predicted and technical development will be viewed.
