Abstract

Variable speed compressor runs a wide speed range and it is required to operate quietly in the full envelope. Permanent magnet motor is a key component of variable speed compressor and produces electromagnetic force to excite noise in compressor. It is desired to optimize motor vibration during motor early design stage.
This report introduces a method to simulation motor vibration using JMAG and Virtual.Lab. The material properties is calibrated to make simulation vibration match test vibration. The vibration simulation is integrated into motor design process to optimize vibration and shorten motor development timing eventually.
