Characteristics Improvement of Skewed Permanent-magnet Motors

Kenji Endo,
Manager, Motor Development Office, In-Wheel Motor Development Division, SIM-Drive Corporation

Abstract

We are developing the car having four wheels vehicle direct-driven by the inwheel outerrotor motor. We have variously researched for the countermeasures to lower a ripple torque peculiar to the permanent magnet motor because the ripple torque is transmitted to the wheel directly, and it influences riding comfort. This time, we introduces the details of the process of pursuing the core construction and the magnet shape, and the skew angle and the step number of skew making use of 2D and 3D analysis from among those countermeasures.
