Abstract

In this paper, electromagnetic force of a DC motor calculated by JMAG is transformed to mechanical loads on the motor yoke for structural vibration analysis. Comparisons made between the deformation of the motor yoke caused by electromagnetic force and the mode shape calculated by vibration analysis indicate that the motor noise is caused by electromagnetic force. Some effective structures for noise reduction are proposed.
