Abstract
In order to realize high-density magnetic recording, a narrow-track write head that has large recording field, large recording field gradient, small stray field to adjacent tracks, and sharp response to high frequency driving is required. In addition to these, single-pole-type (SPT) head for perpendicular recording should avoid skew and external field problems. This article deals the finite element analysis of cusp field SPT head with side shields, tapered main pole, and tapered return paths that realizes the above requirements. Micromagnetic analysis and the future work on analyzing the recording write heads methods are also noted.
