Abstract

Topology optimization has gained much attention because it does not need to set shape parameters before a design and also it could optimize material layout with the goal of maximizing the performance for a given conditions and constraints. Electro-magnetic products have also been optimized with topology optimization recently. In JMAG, NGnet-based topology optimization that is based on On/Off method is available and a number of case studies have been reported. On the other hand, SIMP-based topology optimization that based on adjoint method was released in 2020. This paper reports on an effectiveness and challenges of SIMP-based topology optimization in JMAG through case studies.
