開催趣旨

Professor Tim Miller has 45 years’ experience in the electrical engineering industry and as manager and leader of research laboratories at the University of Glasgow and at General Electric (USA), where he was a member of the team that developed the original “IPM”.

  • This course provides the theoretical and practical basis for designing brushless permanent-magnet machines,
  • The course is illustrated with detailed examples of precise calculations using JMAG software,
  • The design theory and the finite-element method is used to maximize the efficiency and productivity of these calculations.

T.J.E. Miller

While modern engineers have powerful numerical-analysis tools at their finger-tips, the underlying theory and the “workflow architecture” of the design of electric machines is rooted in the analytical theory and in the practical arts of manufacturing and test – skills which are no longer taught systematically in colleges. This course provides the theoretical and practical basis for designing brushless permanent-magnet machines, possibly the most important type of machine to work with modern electronic controls and systems. The course is illustrated with detailed examples of precise calculations using JMAG, and the relationship between the design theory and the finite-element method is used to maximize the efficiency and productivity of these calculations.

The Green Book

The Green Book : “Design of Brushless Permanent-Magnet Machines”

著者: J.R. Hendershot & T.J.E. Miller.
This 822-page brushless machine design book is generously illustrated in color as the authors have tried to catch up with the progress over the last 16 years of PM bushless machine design and development since their well-known 1994 book. Almost the entire work is the direct result of intensive consulting by the authors, in collaborating with many of the leading producers of brushless permanent-magnet machine products worldwide. The book was written with a focus on actual engineering practice and tries to deal with most of the questions that arise on a daily basis in PM brushless machine design. The authors’ partnership is a long-standing combination of theoretical, practical and consulting experience, while the book with its rich illustrations of industrial products celebrates the rich engineering accomplishments of design engineers from all over the world.
