Model-based development of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) control systems & NI Electric Motor Simulation Toolkit

Abstract

As for the increasingly complicated motor control controller (ECU), it will become important to detect problems that were not visible in the upper processes by comparing them with the lower processes and integrating test patterns through model-based development processes.
We will be introducing waveforms compared in the time and frequency axis using current, voltage and torque value which were logged from the PMSM actual machine provided by Mr. Tomohiro Morita from the Fuji Heavy Industries’ HEV design department, HIL simulation (JMAG-RT spatial harmonics model) with National Instruments’ LabVIEW, and MIL simulation with MathWorks’ Simulink (JMAG-RT spatial harmonic model and linear model).
As for HIL simulation, we suggest construction of an automated compound test system including data acquisition and CAN communication with ECU, etc. by customizing FPGA without using text-based programming language (HDL).
