概要
High-performance permanent magnet machines are gaining attention in many fields, including electric and hybrid vehicles, electric and hybrid airplane applications, and industrial and residential applications such as fans, pumps, and compressors. Some applications require high volumetric power density (kW/l), and others need specific power density (kW/kg). Some applications prefer efficiency to be a priority in the design. Not using heavy rare earth elements such as dysprosium is gaining attention for some applications. This presentation will provide design and simulation synchronous PM machine examples based on the research carried out at the Wisconsin Electric Machine and Power Electronic Consortium (WEMPEC) at the University of Wisconsin.
