Abstract

In recent years, it is strongly desired to reduce the size and increase output power of motors, mainly for automotive applications. Companies and universities are developing to increase output power density of motors in various ways. Considering this situation, we have proposed an axial gap motor with soft magnetic powder cores (SMCs), and demonstrated that the axial gap motor can reduce its height and increase power output with comparing to the same size of conventional radial motor. In this presentation we report the current status of our SMCs contributing to high performance of various motors including the abovementioned motors and examples of application to motors.
