JMAG-Designer Ver. 23.1 was released in April 2024.
JMAG is being developed to automate design. To this end, Ver.23.1 has even more improved functionality.
This section picks up on the functional improvements and new features in Ver.23.1.
Improved efficiency map generation speed: Compared to Ver.23.0, the speed for induction motors is on average twice as fast and for wound field synchronous motors is on average 10 times faster. Induction machines and wound field synchronous motors, which are particularly time-consuming in efficiency map calculations, can now be included in early design phase.
Improved distributed processing for massive cases: 1,000 simultaneous jobs are twice as fast for parametric calculations and 1.5 times faster for optimization calculations compared to Ver.23.0. A wider design space can now be considered in the same run time, allowing the better design to be extracted in a more comprehensive manner.
JMAG-Express now includes synchronous reluctance motors as a motor type. This makes it possible to simultaneously evaluate efficiency maps, temperature and stress for permanent magnet synchronous motors, induction motors, wound field synchronous motors, and synchronous reluctance motors. The ability to support more motor types expands the items that can be considered in the early design phase.
An open winding model is added to JMAG-RT. The circuit and control simulators can now study the control of open winding motors, further expanding the range of applications for JMAG-RT.
We hope you will take advantage of the new JMAG.
What is JMAG-Designer Ver.23.1 ?
1. Processing Speed of Reduced Order Efficiency Maps
Increase speed to draw efficiency map for induction motor and wound field motor at the initial design phase.
Comparison of time required to generate efficiency maps
An enhanced algorithm and faster rendering increase the speed of processes twofold for induction motors and tenfold for wound field motors on average.
2. Distributed Processing of Parametric Analyses/ Optimizations
Increase parametric analysis and optimization speed in broad design spaces running over 1,000 cases simultaneously.
CPU efficiency when running 100 to 2,000 cases simultaneously
The vertical axis indicates the cores in-use at the same time. Ver.23.1 mitigates various process from taking more time to run numerous cases simultaneously while providing more uniform calculation times. These innovations realize parametric analyses that are twice as fast as before and optimizations that are 1.5 times faster.
3. SynRM Geometry Library and Scenarios
Run multi disciplinary evaluations of SynRM designs.
Magnetic, thermal and structural design of SynRM
The design satisfies the requirements for maximum torque, efficiency and the maximum stress. On the other hand, revision of the cooling design is necessary because coil temperatures exceed 150 deg C.
4. Open Winding of Three-phase PMSM/SynRM Models
Consider control using open windings of common power systems.
Six terminal voltage command and zero-phase current control
This system utilizes current control that includes a changeover from a single (star connection) to dual inverter drive system (open winding) as output increases. The simulation takes into account zero-sequence current produced by third order harmonics and other phenomena when using two inverters.
